Adan Canto, who starred in shows like “Designated Survivor” and “The Cleaning Lady,” died after a private battle with appendix cancer. Following the news of his death, his co-stars paid tribute to the late actor and honored his memory.
Kiefer Sutherland shared a post on Instagram honoring Canto, saying he and his family were “heartbroken” by the loss.
“It seems like I've had to write too many posts like this lately, but the loss of Adan Canto breaks my heart,” Sutherland shared. “He was such a wonderful spirit. As an actor, his desire to do well, be great and then do better was truly impressive and we will miss him greatly. I am also heartbroken for his wife Steph and his two young children. Adan, may you rest in peace.”
Maggie Q shared a post on Instagram to honor her “gorgeous friend,” adding, “You are the person Hollywood didn't even deserve.” Kindness, warmth and generosity of spirit – complete devotion to your family and ALWAYS that Doing the right thing.”
“No one had your moral compass or even came close to you,” she continued. “I don't understand. Everyone who knew you was lucky. That is everything I know.”
Designated Survivor's LaMonica Garrett said, “Adan was a great actor, he was an even better person, father, husband and friend.” Effortlessly exuded confidence and humility. So get up as best you can. Sad day. You, your wife and your kids will be in my prayers brother…RIP friend…”
Sean Lew, who plays Chris in The Cleaning Lady, shared some thoughts on Instagram Stories.
“I'm kind of at a loss for words. A loss of thought. A loss for what to think. “Just really lost,” Lew’s statement read.
“Adan, you were one of the coolest people I have ever worked with. “It was an honor to be your castmate,” he continued. “I was never in any of your scenes, but I always caught you at lunch and laughed with you every time. We continue the show in honor of you and everything you have given us. Not a single day will go by that you don't acknowledge what you have given to this world. Thank you for everything and I will really miss you.”
Shiva Negar of The Cleaning Lady also took to Instagram Stories to react to the news of Canto's death.
“I can’t, I just can’t,” Negar wrote alongside a crying face and three broken heart emojis.
Negar also shared photos of himself and Canto in various scenes.
Warner Bros. Television and Fox Entertainment, which produces “The Cleaning Lady,” released a joint statement mourning Canto.
“We are heartbroken to learn of the death of Adan Canto. A wonderful actor and dear friend, we have been honored to have him as part of the Warner Bros. Television and FOX Entertainment families since his U.S. debut in The Following more than a decade ago,” the statement read. “Most recently, he lit up the screen in The Cleaning Lady with a powerful performance that showcased his artistry, range, depth and vulnerability. This is an incredible loss and we mourn with his wife Stephanie, their children and loved ones. We will miss Adan very much.”
Fox TV, which airs “The Cleaning Lady,” went to X to pay tribute to Canto.
“He will always be our Arman. Adan Canto, your memory will be cherished forever. We mourn with Adan’s family, friends and fans,” the statement said.
