EDUCATION. The 26th edition of the Desjardins Science Fair ended on Wednesday, February 28, in various secondary schools of the Beauce-Etchemin School Service Center (CSSBE). Of the 13 participants, four received a prize, three of whom came from the Veilleux secondary school in Saint-Joseph-de-Beauce.
In fact, Elysa Pouliot won first place with her kiosk “The impact of modern society on our DNA”, Amélie Cliche achieved second place with her project “Phobias: their impact on people's lives”, while this one won the CSSBE Coup de cœur The prize went to Analu Pitelli, who designed books to explain science to children.
Note that the third prize goes to the research “The Consequences of Alzheimer's Disease” by Élodie Tanguay and Frédérique Fillion from the École des Appalaches de Sainte-Justine.
“We had some very interesting lectures. The students were well prepared and enthusiastic. The topics were of high quality and the jury's work was not easy! », emphasized Claude Lessard, science teacher, who assessed the work of the aspiring scientists.
“It is important to me to offer our young people this opportunity. It is a different experience that can allow them to develop skills that will be useful to them in their future lives,” enthuses Chantal Poulin, educational consultant in science and technology and organizer of the activity. (HL)
