Experts on social media believe an artist commissioned to decorate a New York City Police Department vehicle to celebrate Pride Month smuggled an anti-police acronym into the design.

The excitement began after meeting NYPD Commissioner Keechant Sewell Twitter The site posted a photo of an agency cruiser adorned with a rainbow design for Pride Month.

The patrol car read “PRIDE MONTH” with the words “All Colors are Beautiful” underneath.

“Over the years @GOALny [Gay Officers Action League NY] has demonstrated his unwavering commitment to advancing the universal acceptance and inclusion of all members of the LGBTQIA+ community,” Sewell wrote in his report on Friday. “Your remarkable contribution to this city and department defines New York’s Finest.”

However, social media users were quick to note that “All Colors are Beautiful” can be shortened to ACAB, an anti-cop acronym that stands for “All Cops are Bastards.”

“All Cops are Bastards” dates back to at least the 1940s and most recently burst into the nation’s limelight during the mass protests following the 2020 killing of George Floyd in Minnesota.

The post was viewed more than 10 million times on Twitter as of early Saturday. It was unclear on Saturday who decorated the cruiser and what their intentions were.

“What’s with the ACAB subheading?” one questioned.

“Lmao ACAB”, another wrote.

Others also found it amusing that the acronym ended up on a police car, and one reportedly called The Classical Liberal Caucus joked: “All colors are beautiful” is an excellent slogan. It should be a hashtag or maybe an acronym.”

“Congratulations to the artist who managed to get the NYPD to put ACAB in their own vehicles,” another user wrote.

“It brings to mind some other possible examples of graphic designer sabotage.”
