Before their game against the Chicago Blackhawks on Sunday, the New Jersey Devils announced further details about the length of their star Jack Hughes’ absence.
Through a posting on the social network X (formerly Twitter), the Newark-based team announced that Hughes will not play against the Blackhawks. The latter has not been with the team since returning to New Jersey. He has an upper body injury and is being evaluated weekly.

As a reminder, the 22-year-old center left his team’s game against the St. Louis Blues on Friday after suffering a serious fall against the boards.
Before this misfortune, Jack Hughes had a stunning start to the season, scoring five goals and 15 assists for 20 points in ten games, good for first place in the National Hockey League (NHL) points standings, tied with Elias Pettersson.
Jack Hughes will not play against Chicago tonight. He will be out week-to-week with an upper-body injury. He is back in New Jersey with the sports support staff.
