The list price for the large stone is US$750,000 but as there is a demand for this type of precious diamond the price could be much higher.
The radio veteran, who has been on the Australian airwaves for sixty years and currently hosts a morning show on the 2SM Super Network, bought the gift for Caroline in Hong Kong in 2005.
The ring was reportedly one of the largest of its kind in Sydney and a favorite of Caroline’s.
The couple, who wed in 1976, were known to be devoted to each other and friends say the ring is too reminiscent of the radio star’s recent loss, reports The Sydney Morning Herald.

He had affectionately nicknamed his 44-year-old wife “The Princess” and was devastated by her death.
“It is with a heavy heart that we announce this morning the sad death of Caroline Laws – the beloved wife of legendary Australian broadcaster John Laws,” the John Laws Show tweeted at the time.
They added, “Vale Caroline Laws – you will forever be loved by everyone.”
Speaking about his wife’s death, John simply said, “I’m lost.”

“I thought he was a terribly romantic character,” Caroline told 60 Minutes in 1992.
“I remember coming home to my mom and saying, ‘I think I’m in love,'” John added.
He later said of their first meeting, “She just stopped… and said to me… ‘I think we love each other.’ Exactly like that. And that’s what we did.”
