In an interview with TVA Nouvelles, Ms. Dufresne recalls a friend who she considers a pioneer, creator and artist.
“He was a great man, a person who had a lot of compassion, he even took his trials upon himself and shared them with people to help them overcome them better,” she said. Thanks to him, I did great shows.”
“We’ve outdone ourselves with Guy Latraverse,” she adds. Everyone has a story with Guy that is extraordinary and unique.”
Guy Latraverse was notably a key element in Diane Dufresne’s show at the Olympic Stadium in 1984, when she became the first Quebecer to sing in that hall.
“It was the Quebec government that wanted a Quebecer to enter the stadium,” she says. I had turned it down a few times because I knew it would be strong, but I told Guy if I built the stadium we would have to put a roof on it.
“Any producer would have said no,” she continues. But he thought it was fantastic. He told me that we would put lasers that would reflect mirrors, so nothing was impossible with Guy because we had to grow up, we had to do it.”
The show eventually took place while being broadcast live on television and recorded for an album.
The singer, who is recovering from her voice loss, hints that she may resume her tour in the coming days.
“I’ll sing with my nose a little bit, but I’ll still sing with all my heart,” she says.
