The President of Cuba, Miguel Díaz-Canel, arrived today in this capital where he will take part in the third summit of the European Union (EU) and the Community of Latin American and Caribbean States (Celac).

The head of state arrived in Belgium from Portugal, a country where he spoke to authorities and received statements of solidarity from local associations and Cuban residents at meetings that confirmed condemnation of the United States’ economic, trade and financial embargo on the island .

In the Belgian capital, Díaz-Canel will carry out an extensive agenda that will include his participation in the bi-regional summit, last held in 2015, which this edition includes discussions on climate change, the fight against inequalities and the digital transformation. among other questions.

Regarding this forum, the President announced that Cuba will participate actively and very constructively in the interest of close relations on both sides of the Atlantic.

According to the dignitary, the Caribbean state will help strengthen relations between the EU and Celac, the united voice of Latin America and the Caribbean, based on equality and respect.

Social movements and progressive political forces are expected to see the presence of the Cuban President and other leaders of the region at the popular summit, which will take place in parallel with the meeting of the heads of state and government at the Free University of Brussels.
