The First Secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Cuba and President of the Republic, Miguel Díaz-Canel Bermúdez, sent his congratulations via Twitter to Andrés Manuel López Obrador, who was confirmed as President of Mexico in a citizens’ consultation.
“Congratulations to López Obrador, who has been confirmed as President of Mexico in an unprecedented rating in his country,” declared the Cuban President.
It was the first consultation on the revocation of a mandate held in the nation and was conducted this Sunday in what is considered a before and after in the history of democracy in this country.

As part of the consultation results, La Jornada said AMLO received 91.9% support from voters, which translates to more than 15 million Mexicans supporting his mandate.
Regarding this victory, the current President of Mexico commented on his Twitter account: “Today, millions of Mexicans made history again.”
“We are participating in the historic democratic exercise taking place across the country today. Democracy must be a way of life, a habit of Mexicans, so that no one feels absolute. The people are the ones who rule,” López Obrador explained on the same communication platform.
Official data reported by the National Electoral Institute (INE) shows that only 18% of the electorate participated, or around 16.3 million people.
In his morning conference, López Obrador insisted the results were very good. He compared it to the 2006 general election, when he ran for the presidency for the first time and received 14.8 million votes, while Felipe Calderón reached 15 million.
“I’m also saying that because our opponents, who are getting very angry, are now saying, ‘It’s half the votes the President got in the 2018 election. Yes, no more than a third of the voting booths and with all the traps or boycott of the INE that has not been applied to place boxes everywhere, “he deepened.
