Havana, May 1 (ACN) The President of Cuba, Miguel Diaz-Caneltoday congratulated Santiago Peña, who became the President-elect of Paraguay this Sunday.
“We confirm Cuba’s willingness to deepen bilateral relations between peoples and governments,” said the First Secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Cuba and President of the Republic on Twitter.

Peña of the ruling Colorado Party was the winner of the presidential election held in this South American nation this Sunday.
According to the preliminary results of the Supreme Electoral Court, the 44-year-old right-wing economist received 42.93 percent (%) of the votes ahead of the liberal oppositionist Efraín Alegre (27.52%).
Peña’s inauguration is scheduled for mid-next August for a five-year period, replacing President Mario Abdo Benítez.
