“The ideal way to avoid this is to always eat slowly, chew well and avoid a larger amount than you normally eat on a daily basis,” says nutritionist Thais Gondim
A history of slow digestion with heartburn and reflux affects how each person responds to typical Christmas foods. In this case, the recommendation is to avoid “foods rich in milk and derivatives, many spices, citrus fruits, farofa, alcoholic beverages” and pay attention to the amounts according to the state of health.
Alcoholic beverages have the potential to irritate the stomach wall, with the possibility of developing gastritis. “If you want a drink, choose the drink you like [consumirá] less,” says the expert.
Hydration is important, but never with meals. Taking food with drinks can cause stomach upset and affect the absorption of certain nutrients.
