Kiko Loureiro shared with fans his decision to stay away Megadeth for another period of time.
The update, which the legendary Brazilian guitarist published last Sunday (19) via his social networks, comes after he announced in September this year that he would return to Finland, where his family lives, to devote himself to family matters .

Dear Megadeth fans, I would like to share with you a decision that was not easy for me. In September I had to miss the North American leg of the tour for family reasons. Looking ahead, an even larger concert schedule is predicted for Megadeth in 2024. After careful consideration and discussions with Dave Mustaine and the Megadeth team, we agree that extending my absence is the right decision. I don’t want to disrupt the band’s plans or the hard work of all the great people involved in the tour.
My nine years at Megadeth have been an incredible journey full of countless “pinch” moments. Unforgettable tours, a Grammy for “Dystopia,” a Grammy nomination and multiple awards for “The Sick, The Dying, and The Dead” are just a few of the highlights. It is difficult to put into words the magnitude of these experiences.
I’m sure every heavy metal fan will appreciate how incredible it is to be able to play in a band and make music that you grew up with as a kid and share the stage with a guitar legend like Dave Mustaine as well as phenomenal ones Musicians like James LoMenzo and others like Dirk Verbeuren, not to mention our incredible team. However, the most valuable aspect of those nine years was meeting Megadeth’s incredible army of loyal fans around the world.
