Diocese of Franca exempts Father Ferdinando from celibacy and priestly duties GCN portal

The diocese France Father Ferdinando Henrique Pavam Rubio, parish priest of the Santa Luzia parish in the São Joaquim neighborhood, was suspended from ordination this Tuesday 5th. According to the church, the request came from the religious himself.

In a statement published this Tuesday, the diocese explains that it has approved Father Ferdinando’s request and exempted him from priestly duties and celibacy that is, sexual abstinence.

The document states that as of this Tuesday, Father Ferdinando will abandon his pastoral duties and be suspended from exercising orders pending the Vatican’s decision.

The Diocese of Franca shared the report by telephone GCN/Franca portal that Father Ferdinando’s request was made for “private reasons”, without giving details.

The report also contacted the parish of Santa Luzia, where it was stated that only the priest Aparecido Raimundo de Souza Meireles could speak on the matter, but that he was not present on two occasions.

Ferdinando Henrique Pavam Rubio is 41 years old and was ordained a priest on July 17, 2015. He stayed in the parish of Santa Luzia for about a year. There is no information yet about the priest’s successor as pastor.
