A Norwegian seismological institute detected “an explosion” from the region of Ukraine’s Kakhovka Dam at the time of its destruction on Tuesday, one of its senior officials said on Friday (June 9). This announcement supports the notion that this hydroelectric dam, located in an area under Russian control, has not given way due to the damage it has suffered from the bombings over the past few months, but was in fact attacked on Tuesday. New bombings in the night. At least eight people were injured in Russian attacks in Uman, in the center of the country, according to local authorities. This city has not been targeted since April 28, the media reports RBK Ukraine. Zelenskyy praises the “results” achieved in the Donetsk region. “The fighting is very tough,” the Ukrainian president admitted in his daily address on Thursday. “We are getting results and I am grateful to those who are getting them. Well done in Bakhmout. Step by step,” he explained.
Thirteen dead on both sides of the Dnipro. The Ukrainian and Russian authorities recorded five and eight deaths, respectively, following the destruction of the Kakhovka Dam. According to the governor of the Kherson region, an area of more than 600 km2 was flooded, both on the right bank of the river, controlled by the Ukrainians, and on the left bank, occupied by the Russians.
The evacuations continue. Buses and trains alternate to move the affected population in the south of the country. According to the Ukrainian emergency services, 1,995 people were evacuated, including 103 children. Many others fled on their own. On the Russian side, “4,500 people have already been evacuated,” the occupation authorities said on Thursday.
