Three Belgian suspects who allegedly kidnapped, tortured and raped their victim with a piece of wood face up to 15 years in prison in a case heard at the Namur Criminal Court on Thursday.
The facts of this sordid affair go back to the summer of 2022, when the victim, a man who has since fled abroad, suffered abuse filmed by the defendants on a summer night in August.
As “Sud-Info” reported on Thursday, the man being held hostage suffered cuts from stab wounds before being raped with a piece of wood and parts of his body burned with a hotplate.
The young victim, who found refuge in a grocery store on Boulevard Mélot, told the judge that she was the victim of a score-calling while staying at a friend’s house, Belgian media reported.
Against two of the three defendants, one of whom had already been sentenced to 40 months in prison for attempted murder, the public prosecutor’s office asked the sentencing court for a prison sentence of 15 years and a release of five years.
The lawyer for the third defendant argued for the facts to be reclassified as “culpable omission and refusal to provide assistance”, while the verdict was reserved for November 16th.
