Police confirmed Tuesday that the body discovered in the submerged car found in a waterhole was that of Kiely Rodni, who disappeared at a party in California in early August.
The police confirmed what was already little doubt. On Tuesday, she announced that the body discovered by amateur divers in a car sunken in a waterhole was in fact that of Kiely Rodni. The 16-year-old disappeared at a party at a California campground in early August. If the body has been identified, the investigation is still ongoing. Authorities want to understand what happened to the girl and if anyone else is involved in her death. While waiting for answers, Kiely’s family responded in a press release issued by People on Tuesday.
“We are forever grateful for the love and support you have shown us over the past two weeks. (…) As we accept this sadness cast in the shadow of death, the rising sun shines upon us, reminding us not to mourn our loss, but to celebrate the spirit of Kiely and the gift we all received when we met her. Kiely will stay with us even if we don’t get her back. People close to him added: “There are certain occasions when words fail. Perhaps that’s why our human nature has given us art, dance, and music, which are often more effective ways to connect with each other and with our rawest emotions. Please excuse us as we retire and privately dance to the song of life as we celebrate our daughter’s spirit and heal our souls.”

A difficult investigation
Kiely disappeared just as she had sent a final message to her mother telling her she was going home soon. But she never arrived. The investigation initially stalled until a team of amateur divers was mobilized on Sunday, who found his vehicle in which his body was found. Corresponding “Sun,” men in their late 20s gave away free drugs, including mushrooms and cocaine, to attendees at the party where Kiely was last seen. In addition, during their investigation, authorities said they found CCTV footage showing the teenager at around 6:30 p.m. on Friday night of her disappearance at a Truckee store where the party was taking place. The images had been made public, specifically by the FBI. Given the lack of information, the police complained about the lack of cooperation from those present at the party. Between 100 and 300 people attended the evening.
