A pedestrian would have met an agonizing end on Montreal’s south coast on Friday after being struck by a traffic light pole in a major collision, all at the start of a disastrous Saint Jean Baptiste weekend on our roads.

“It was very, very moving. People didn’t talk. Occasionally we heard the sound of sirens,” says Caroline Éthier, who witnessed the shock that followed the incident.
Shortly after 4 p.m., this resident of the town of Brossard rushed to the intersection of Boulevard Lapinière and Avenue Auteuil after hearing significant impact noise.
At least three vehicles were involved in the collision, including a city bus, Longueuil police said.

Ms Prinston’s death is part of the dark list of tragedies that have unfolded in various regions of the province this weekend, be it Centre-du-Québec, Montérégie or Mauricie.
