If your weekend (or weekday) breakfast usually includes waffles or pancakes made using the mix (no judgment here), it’s a good idea to revisit the menu. This is because certain buttermilk pancakes and waffle mixes sold at Kroger and Wal-Mart locations across the country have been recalled “due to potential foreign body contamination,” the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) said. I am reporting. Here’s what you need to know:

Why pancake and waffle mixes are recalled

All recalled products were manufactured by Continental Mills, and the buttermilk pancakes and waffle mixes in question were sold under both Kroger and Walmart store brands (Kroger and Great Value, respectively).

The manufacturer issued a recall after a piece of cable used to clean the processing line was found in some of the pancake and waffle mixture. So far, no consumer has reported that the product contains cables and there are no signs of associated illness or injury.
