Located in the Gulf of Saint Lawrence, the island was developed by French chocolatier Henri Menier. He has achieved great things while always respecting nature and wildlife habitats. He knew how to preserve the unique personality of this place. Personally, I have always considered Anticosti as a continent within our continent. The island covers an area of 7953 square kilometers, nearly 30 times that of Orleans Island’s 268.5 square kilometers.

“I believe that we can offer attractive packages to holidaymakers, whether they love discovery or outdoor activities,” explains Daniel Lévesque, Customer Service Manager at Sépaq Anticosti. We have four websites where you are sure to find what you are looking for. » All packages include transportation from Montreal and Quebec City to Port-Menier. Upon your arrival, you will be attended to by the Sépaq Anticosti team.

HOSTEL PACKAGE

A package is available that includes accommodation at Auberge de Port-Menier, meals included and more. Upon arrival, you will be picked up by a shuttle service. On site we offer you a guide service with which you can discover the island in different ways. We think of the Vauréal waterfall or, instead, the ruins of Château Menier, Anse-aux-Fraises or the sanctuary of Baie-Sainte-Claire. You can also use a bike rental to visit the village and the various sights.

Another advantage is the constant presence of deer in the village. Imagine opening the patio door of your room in the Auberge and confronting a deer. You will then experience the daily life of the villagers.

THE MCDONALD HOSTEL

The second very interesting place to stay is the Auberge McDonald, located just over 100 kilometers from the village on the north side.

A truck is included in the package for travel. It will be delivered to the airport. If you choose this destination, you will be in the center of the area and closer to attractions such as the Vauréal waterfall. You can also do the waterfall canyon walk, a unique hike. The observation trail and the potato cave are also interesting activities. Accommodation and meals are included in the price.

On the banks of the Vauréal river, there are four beautiful chalets where you can experience a European-style stay, always including a truck. You can get services such as refueling at the McDonald center or eat at the Auberge. You are even closer to the Vauréal waterfalls, Baie de La Tour and various attractions further east of the island.

The sea is omnipresent. You can take great walks along the shore or even go fishing and have some interesting surprises. During our visit, the young Guillaume Charland from Quebec told us about his adventure in catching a beautiful sea trout to taste with his whole family.

CHICOTTE THE SEA

In the south of the island, in the Chicotte la Mer service center, we offer you the opportunity to stay in one of the four magnificent chalets on the site. There is also a campsite. Here, too, you take over your transporter in Port-Menier. Along the way you’ll cross the famous Jupiter River, where salmon can be seen in the transparent waters. Chicotte la Mer Bay is a spectacle in itself. For hiking enthusiasts there is the Chicotte River Canyon. There are also natural pools where you can swim in hot weather. The water has an emerald green color.

Whichever stay you choose, you can of course also encounter deer and foxes, not to mention the marine life that sometimes takes a short stroll along the coast.

So why not take the opportunity and visit this magical island, a treasure that belongs to us, all Quebecers? You will discover fossils, plants and very interesting natural phenomena.
