The Nothing phone (1) appeared on the Amazon website. In Europe, the smartphone is offered at a starting price of 469 euros. To justify this higher than expected price, the brand relies on an original design and a neat Android interface.
The Nothing phone (1) appeared on Amazon. The smartphone was listed, probably by mistake, a few days before the official presentation. The device was briefly spotted on Amazon Germany before it surfaced AmazonUK.
These leaks reveal the selling price of the Nothing phone (1) in euros. The brand has apparently set the entry-level price for its first phone €469.99. This standard version comes with 8GB of RAM and 128GB of internal storage.
To benefit from 256 GB of storage, you have to pay 499 euros. A version with 12 GB of RAM is also available at a price of 549 euros. Here is the fee schedule that should apply in France:
- Nothing Phone (1) 8GB/ 128GB: 469.99 euros
- Nothing Phone (1) 8GB/ 256GB: 499 euros
- Nothing Phone (1) 12GB/ 256GB: 549 euros
A smartphone more expensive than expected
The starting price of the Nothing phone (1) is higher than expected. Given the device’s spec sheet, we expected a more modest price tag. As advertised by the fledgling brand, the phone is actually powered by one Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 778G+ SoC, a chip for affordable devices. Nothing explains relying on a bespoke version of the Qualcomm chip.
Most smartphones with Snapdragon 778G+ are sold under 400 euros. This is especially true for the Poco F4, which is advertised at 399 euros. In addition, the technical data sheet of the device does not particularly stand out. On the front we should find a 6.55-inch OLED screen with a 120Hz refresh rate, also equipped with a rather modest camera. Nothing settles for a dual photo sensor with a 50-megapixel main lens.
To justify the price of its first flagship, Nothing relies on two things: Design and software interface. In fact, the phone (1) differs from the competition thanks to its original look. All the components of the device can be seen under the transparent glass back, including the copper coil for wireless charging. In addition, it is equipped with LED lights. These lights turn on and flash when the phone receives notifications, calls, or messages.
On the software side, the smartphone runs on Nothing OS, an Android overlay developed by the brand. Carl Pei, founder of Nothing, has already spoken at length about his flagship’s interface. This is one of the phone’s main selling points (1).
Amazon reveals that too two different colors will be offered from launch: white and black. As a reminder, Nothing will announce its first smartphone on July 12, 2022.
