On Saturday, a man was walking his two dogs in the borough of Queens in New York, United States, when he spotted an abandoned gym bag.
He opened it and was horrified to find a dismembered and bloodied body inside. The police arriving at the scene could only confirm the death of the victim. This is Orsolya Gaal, a 51-year-old New Yorker.
Police followed the bloodstains to the nearby home of this mother of two.
It was Orsolya’s 13-year-old son Leo who opened the door for them. The teenager was taken to the police station for questioning before being released and exonerated.
The victim’s husband and their 17-year-old second son were in Portland to attend college. The man received a strange message from the killer: “Your whole family will follow.”
The autopsy revealed the mother had been killed with 60 stab wounds to her neck, chest and left arm. Her throat was slit.
CCTV captured a person dragging the bag. But the image is too blurry to see.
According to the initial findings of the investigation, the victim had informed her son on Friday evening that she was absent for a show. But investigators believe she lied and went on a date with a man.
Investigators believe the man killed and dismembered her in the basement of his home and hid the limbs in a gym bag before dumping her body half a mile away.
The alleged killer then reportedly texted his victim’s husband: “Your whole family is next.”
The investigations are ongoing.
