Cinderella’s “fairy godmother” is apparently also woken up.

Disney’s Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique will now be named “Fairy Godmother’s Apprentices” instead of “Fairy Godmothers in Training,” according to Disney.

The change is an attempt to make the theme parks more gender-neutral, Walt Disney World (WDW) told News Today on Tuesday.

The Disney blog Streaming the Magic also reported on the topic.

One post said, “This way, cast members who may not identify as female can still be part of the process of dressing up and styling the children without having to label themselves as a female Disney character.”

The “tweak” is part of a larger and ongoing movement toward greater inclusivity on Disney’s part.

Some Disney fans were outraged by the news on social media.

Park-goers ages three to 12 can visit the Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique for a Disney-style makeover.

The newly appointed Fairy Godmother trainees are responsible for transforming the young guests into princesses or knights with hairstyling, make-up and costume changes.

Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique is scheduled to reopen on August 25, 2022 after being closed during the coronavirus pandemic.

A New York father who took his two young children to Disney World in Florida commented on the change: “I saw that [the change in title to ‘Fairy Godmothers in Training’] and I find it absurd.”

He added: “Having a daughter who has done the Bibbity Boppity boutique where this is being implemented solidifies my thoughts that I can no longer take my children there. You have completely woken up.”
