Disney Paris employees protest, demanding pay rises

A group of park employees Disneyin Paris, am France, occupied the Sleeping Beauty Castle one of the main tourist attractions of the area and demanded a salary adjustment of 200 euros in addition to an additional allowance for Sundays worked. Dubbed the antiinflationary movement, the group was highlighted in the French press as saying it was backed by a thousand park workers. “Worked for the mouse for five years, always paid like a mouse,” chanted those present at the protest. “Magic costs our visitors an arm, our employees a kidney,” the shouts called for readjustment. According to the organizers of the demonstration, the next strike will take place this Tuesday 6th, with the support of French trade union federations such as the General Confederation of Trade Unions (CGT) and the National Union of Autonomous Trade Unions (UNSA). According to Le Parisien newspaper, several sectors of the park, such as security, restructuring and hotels, have supported the shutdowns since their inception which began in late May. Tourists and fans of the park took to social media to express their concerns. “Agreed that workers must protest and negotiate, but do so outside the parks. Not showing respect to the guest does not mean supporting your cause,” stressed one netizen. Speaking to Le Monde newspaper, an English tourist took an alternative route and showed his support for the demonstration: “I support them. I’m from the UK and we’ve also had wage strikes. There is no other way to get what is due to him.”
