Disney is looking for new residential projects in North Carolina that will likely have high prices

South Carolina State Treasurer Curtis Loftis said he was fed up with the Walt Disney Company prioritizing activism over investors.

Can’t get enough of Disney? Fans will soon be able to purchase homes in scenic North Carolina—with a sprinkle of Disney fairy dust—designed by the company’s theme park designers.

Despite the company’s recent financial burdens, the media group is pushing ahead with planning a new living concept.

The 1,500-acre community, called Asteria, will include 4,000 single- and multi-family homes and will be located in Pittsboro, North Carolina, near Raleigh, Durham and Chapel Hill.

This also includes living space for people aged 55 and over.

Homeowners in the community have access to a variety of Disney-style entertainment and activity options, including a clubhouse, wellness center, community garden, restaurants, sports fields and an extensive trail network.

Storyliving by Disney, the brand behind the development, said the homes are expected to be sold starting in 2027.

The first community called “Cotino” is currently being built in Southern California, in Rancho Mirage.

DISNEY’S IGER TO STOP FROM

“The Asteria Community announcement builds on strong initial interest in our first Storyliving by Disney community in California and will expand Disney-branded communities to the East Coast,” said Claire Bilby, senior vice president and general manager of Disney Signature Experiences Emerging Businesses said in a press release. “Our team worked closely with Disney Imagineers to develop a unique vision for this project, inspired by Walt Disney’s innate curiosity and North Carolina’s spirit of discovery.”
