Dispute in France: The Luxembourg champions smash an opponent’s bike in anger
Luxembourg cyclist Colin Heiderscheid outraged an opponent at the finish of a race in northern France on Saturday, triggering widespread criticism.

As the peloton had just crossed the finish line, a crash involving two riders occurred shortly after the finish, a few meters ahead of Colin Heiderscheid. The latter, without even caring about the health of one of the two riders on the ground, stopped, dismounted and, with a humorous gesture, grabbed his opponent’s bike to the ground with his left hand. He then got back on his bike and left the scene of the accident, leaving the injured rider on the ground, stunned.
“In cycling, every day is stupid at the moment. Yesterday it was the turn of the Luxembourg champion Colin Heiderscheid,” responded a user on Twitter. “These bikes cost several thousand euros!” the Twitter account Cycling Bottle wrote. “Not a very elegant gesture,” assures another netizen, while dozens of comments denounce the Luxembourger’s attitude.
The surprise winner of last summer’s Luxembourg championship, the 25-year-old driver of the Leopard TOGT team is likely to face a sanction… He has not yet commented on this episode.
