“Disruptive” Ryanair passengers are “walked off the plane by police” after the Morocco-bound flight was forced to turn back and land in Stansted due to “drug and verbal abuse”.

A Ryanair flight to Morocco was forced to make a U-turn and fly back to Stansted after reports of a group of “disruptive passengers abusing staff and drugs” on board.

The plane was destined for Marrakech, but after an hour's flight returned to Essex Airport, where it was boarded by police.

The footage shows men being led off the plane, but Essex Police later said no arrests were made.

A passenger on the flight said others were concerned about the incident.

The 25-year-old, who did not want to give his name, said: “It was very chaotic.” Everyone was freaking out and wondering what was going on. When we landed, one of the guys was doing the brace position.

“We found out that the plane was returning to Stansted about an hour into the flight.” When we finally landed, about four armed police came on board.

An Essex Police spokesman said: “Officers at Stansted Airport provided assistance after a plane was returned to the airport at around 4.15pm on December 7th. This followed reports of drug use and verbal abuse on board.”

“After the plane landed, officers conducted searches and no drugs were found.” No arrests were made. The matter is now being managed by the airline.”

A Ryanair spokesman said: “This flight from Stansted to Marrakech (December 7) was returning to Stansted Airport shortly after takeoff when a small group of passengers disrupted the flight.”

“The crew called the police beforehand and the aircraft was met by local police on arrival at Stansted Airport.” This is now a matter for the local police.

“In order to minimize disruption to passengers, Ryanair rebooked passengers onto an alternative aircraft which departed for Marrakech later in the evening.

“Ryanair apologizes for any inconvenience caused to passengers by these disruptive passengers.”
