These two Canadians had married decades ago and then separated after a few years. They never thought that fate would bring them back together 55 years later.
When Lynn Maloney went on a date with someone he didn’t know in 1968, he never thought it would change his life.
He took her to a curling club, a hobby Lana didn’t particularly enjoy.
Despite this difference, it was love at first sight between the lovebirds. It wasn’t until two years later that they promised each other for life.
Then they had a little girl. However, almost 15 years later, their marriage was plagued by several difficulties. However, they stayed in touch through their children and grandchildren.
“We were there for each other,” Lana told CTV News.
The following decades were quite difficult for the couple: their children had health problems and Lana’s best friend died.
“Every challenge has taught us never to take things for granted,” said Lynn.
The man realized that he had made a mistake in breaking up with his ex-wife. He shared his intentions with Lana, who then expressed the same feelings towards him.
After challenges luck
The couple’s challenges weren’t over yet: Lynn was diagnosed with cancer. Doctors said he had only three months to live. The couple decided to make the most of the remaining time.
But the twist: The man battled his cancer and is now in remission.
Lynn took the opportunity to ask for Lana’s hand. Almost 55 years after their first marriage, Lynn and Lana celebrated their second.
“We have a great life together,” Lana said with a grin.
