A Brazilian DJ was responsible for the funk remix of Rihanna’s show this Sunday (12) at the Super Bowl during the presentation of the hit song “Rude Boy.”
In conversation with syringes, DJ Klan, 20, says he was approached by the singer’s team earlier this year to talk about the remix. Klan’s work was released on YouTube in 2020 and is viral today on TikTok with over 5.6 million views.
Rihanna’s team’s first contact took place earlier this year amid enigmas. The singer’s reps were interested in using the remix in a project, but didn’t say which one. The date made the DJ think it could be the Super Bowl:
“We didn’t know exactly what was going to happen, but based on the date we had a little inkling that it might be the Super Bowl because they were in a rush. So we bet we saw it at the time and it happened, it was amazing,” says the musician.
It’s a gigantic event. A Rihanna comeback with my music is something I’m really proud of because she’s coming back on stage and I had a seat in that comeback. DJ Klean
When first contacted, Rihanna’s advisor said he was a copyright infringer. Klean enlisted the help of her veteran friend DJ Zegon of Tropkillaz who mediated negotiations along with company SPA Produções so that Rihanna’s team would recognize the Brazilian’s work as an official remix.
