DJ Moore backs Justin Fields as Bears quarterback beyond 2023: He's 'better' than top 2024 prospects – CBS Sports

Justin Fields threw two interceptions in the Bears' loss to the Browns on Sunday, which dropped Chicago to 5-9 on the season. But his top target, wide receiver DJ Moore, believes Fields has already earned the quarterback job beyond 2023.

“Bruh, where are you going to see that?” Moore told reporters after Sunday's game when asked about Fields' future in Chicago. “What makes him not the quarterback of the Chicago Bears right now?”

The reality, of course, is that the Bears are currently projected to own both the No. 1 and No. 5 picks in the 2024 draft, where top QB candidates like USC's Caleb Williams and North Carolina's Drake Maye are available become.

“I understand that everyone is coming out,” Moore added. “What, it’s like two people? I don’t think they’re better than Justin.”

Moore certainly enjoyed a productive first season with the Bears, intercepting passes from Fields and surpassing 1,000 yards receiving for the fourth time in his NFL career. But the real question is: Will Chicago's front office agree with his assessment of the 2024 outlook? Fields has demonstrated his outstanding talent in consecutive seasons as the Bears' starter, particularly as a runner, but he also recorded more turnovers than games played and posted an 8-26 record as a center in the Windy City.

Williams and Maye, on the other hand, are popular projections to go No. 1 overall in the 2024 draft. And current Bears general manager Ryan Poles notably wasn't part of the Chicago regime that spent No. 11 on Fields in 2021.
