Djibouti welcomed the decision of the International Court of Justice on the Palestine Genocide

Djibouti, January 27 (Prensa Latina) Djibouti today welcomed the arbitration decision of the International Court of Justice (ICJ) on the ongoing genocide in Gaza against the Palestinian people and reiterated its call on Israel to immediately put an end to this barbarity.

Djiboutian Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation Mahmoud Ali Youssouf reiterated that the International Court of Justice ruling was a ray of hope for the 153 countries committed to ending the attacks on Palestine, a number that represents 80 percent of humanity .

Youssouf specified in his X account on the social network that these nations “no longer want an international order based on double standards and international law of variable geometry.”

He recalled that the decision of the arbitral tribunal will be submitted to the United Nations Security Council, then we will see on what moral basis the member countries stand: on the side of good or evil, there is no third option.

“Being a democratic country does not give the right to kill and murder thousands of civilians just to carry out ethnic cleansing and confiscate land,” the Djiboutian foreign minister stressed in another publication.

Finally, he thanked South Africa for representing the world as the best part of humanity and the International Court of Justice for upholding the strength of international law, reminding us all that “might is not necessarily right”.

The United Nations' main legal body ruled on the matter the previous day after Pretoria accused the State of Israel of genocidal intent in the Gaza Strip, where more than 25,000 Palestinians, including women and children, died and another 64,000 were injured in attacks in Tel Aviv since October 7th.

The Hague is deeply concerned by the high death toll, said Judge Joan Donoghue, adding that a human tragedy is occurring in Gaza.

Donoghue described the situation of children in this occupied territory as particularly dire.

The ICJ requires Tel Aviv to report within one month the steps taken to comply with the binding orders.
