The secret is this: walk five minutes every half hour during office hours. This alone can lead to better blood pressure and blood sugar levels.

This was a discovery by researchers at Columbia University in the United States. The study was published in the journal Medicine & Science in Sports & Exercise.

The researchers tested five different alternatives to get to the ideal, namely these short walks alternated with periods of work at the computer.

Some options were evaluated, such as E.g. walk one minute every half hour, one minute every hour, five minutes every half hour and five minutes every hour. What is best for each person.

How did the study work?

Eleven adults took part, sitting for eight hours at a time. They only got up or went to the toilet when asked by the researchers.

During the examination, the blood pressure and blood sugar level of the subjects were measured. The habit of taking a fiveminute walk every half hour was the only one that reduced both measures.
