Doctor Strange 2 Reveals New Best Look From Patrick Stewart’s Wheelchair X-Men Hero

As Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness looms over the horizon near its release date, anticipation rises to fever pitch. New promotions have revealed fresh moments from Elizabeth Olsen’s Wanda Maximoff, while other reports have teased how this film will tie in with other projects in theaters and on Disney+. And of course even that still leaves a Patrick Stewart-shaped elephant in the room to talk to.

Ever since Marvel Studios delivered the Super Bowl trailer for Doctor Strange 2, Patrick Stewart’s Professor X has been one of the most consistent talking points in terms of that film’s impact on the MCU. Stewart has even commented on the footage a few times, even denying he’s even seen it, though he expressed excitement at being back at Marvel Studios in a new version of the role.

With the lead X-Men character being such an important reveal in this incredible story, Marvel has been waiting to get a full look at what Stewart will look like when he returns, and with good reason. Now, while his full imagery is still under wraps, a recent cinematic moment gave fans their best look yet at this iconic hero.

This shot in particular offers the best look yet of Patrick Stewart’s Charles Xavier in his debut appearance in the MCU.

The entire back of his head is shown through the expanded screens, although he still looks blurry in the shot. Fans can also now see the headpiece of what appears to be a yellow wheelchair that he is sitting in.

In the comics, Professor X is often seen in a yellow hover chair, the color and design of which were not fully adopted by 20th Century Fox’s Marvel’s X-Men films. Below is a picture of the chair from X-Men #4 (1991):

Doctor Strange Trailer Shows Full Wheelchair

While Professor X is undeniably a strong player in and of himself, he’s instantly recognizable thanks to the classic wheelchair and hover chair he brags about in the comics and movies. Now that fans can see the backrest of this chair in this new trailer, it only serves to take the anticipation of its return to an even higher level.

More than ever, Marvel Studios is committed to bringing comic book-accurate visuals to the MCU during Phase 4. Most recently, this has been seen on Peter Parker’s new suit in Spider-Man: No Way Home, the Hawaiian shirt for Vincent D. Onofrio’s Kingpin in Hawkeye, and even Falligar the Behemoth in the newly released Thor: Love and Thunder trailer.

These images in the new trailer could prove that Marvel is bringing that same comic book accuracy once again with a character that fans have long wanted in the MCU.

Of course, this is the best anyone will get for a full look at Stewart’s Professor X until the film fully debuts. Marvel Studios and its team are doing everything in their power to avoid a discussion on the subject, and from what came out in No Way Home, this film might top even that threesome with its startling revelations.
