To deal with this extreme poverty, this total despair, more and more parents are opting for a radical solution, which Liseron Boudoul had already observed in his previous report: the sale of their very young daughter. The father of a just one-year-old baby, already married for 250 euros, testifies. “I had no other choice. I had to sell it. I swear to you that we only have stale bread to eat. We soak it in water and when it gets soft we eat it. C This is our life”, he justifies . “If you were in my place, wouldn’t you have sold your daughter? Instead of watching my six children starve, it’s better to sacrifice one. But of course I love my little one,” he says again. The man who bought her baby to later marry her off to his son will pick her up before winter.
Next door, another woman lives in a mud hut covered with plastic sheeting. Your daughter will never go to school. “We’re hungry. My father married me for 200,000 Afghans,” says the child, the equivalent of around 2,000 euros. Realizing that she is “not ready” to get married, she hopes this connection will allow her to eat at least twice a day. The 7-year-old girl will soon join her future husband, who is 26 years old.
