The 29-year-old right-hander began his career with the Rangers after signing as an amateur free agent from the Dominican Republic. He made his Major League debut with the Rangers in 2015. However, regular playing time eluded him until he was signed by the Orioles in the 2019 season. The all-around quarterback spent two years in Baltimore and played for the Royals last year.
While Alberto has been a frontline starter for the last couple of seasons, he will move into a more distinct bench role with the Dodgers. However, manager Dave Roberts is certainly using his bench and the Dodgers have no shortage of injuries. Last year, Alberto cut .270/.291/.402 over 255 plate appearances, befitting his history as a contact-oriented bat with a low walking speed and a glove capable of moving all over the diamond.
