David Krejci needs time to make up his mind

Does David Krejci have a grudge against Bruce Cassidy?

David Krejci, newly retired former Boston Bruins forward, allowed himself to look back on a moment he didn’t appreciate in his career.

The 37-year-old spoke about the 2018-2019 Stanley Cup finals in an interview with Czech media iSport.cz. The Bruins were seven games behind against the St. Louis Blues and the Massachusetts side was led by head coach Bruce Cassidy.

At the time, Krejci was piloting the Bruins’ second line. He always played with Jake DeBrusk at left wing but regularly saw a new right winger join him.

The first Oursons trio consisted of Brad Marchand, Patrice Bergeron and David Pastrnak. Krejci would have liked the last of his three hockey players to develop in his unit, which Cassidy never granted him.

“I think he should have separated those three and helped me,” said the Czech. In 2019 we were in the finals and I had just finished a 70 point season without progressing with Pasta. If only Cassidy had been more receptive…”

“I just think he could have been more accommodating,” he said afterwards. He let me play with Karson Kuhlman on the right in Game 7. He’s an excellent player and a good person, but I would have liked to play with a hockey player who has more National League experience on my line. Karson had played in our school club for most of the season.

In fact, before the start of the playoffs in 2019, the right winger had just 11 games of regular-season experience at the Bettman circuit. In the seventh game against the Blues, he participated in his eighth playoff game.
