Dog survives fall from a height of almost 20 meters and solo night in the national park

A dog was rescued after falling more than 60 feet and spending a night in the cold at a Michigan national park.

The animal, named “Dancer,” is believed to have escaped its leash and fallen from a cliff near Miners Castle in Shingleton, on the edge of Lake Superior, the New York Post reports.

“After hours of searching the area, the owners were unable to locate the animal and were convinced it had not survived its fall,” said a news release from the US National Park Services.

The park's rescue team was finally able to find the animal the next morning, alive but affected by the cold.

“She spent the night trying to keep warm but was happy when rescuers arrived,” the National Park Services says.

Dancer has since been reunited with his family and is reportedly doing well.
