Doja Cat confirms her upcoming fourth studio album will be rap songs

Doja Cat announced in multiple tweets shared on Saturday that her forthcoming fourth album would consist entirely of rap music.

The 27-year-old rapper shared a picture of three tracks in the works, titled “Wet Vagina,” “Balut,” and “Agora Hills,” and interacted with several of her fans to get more info on her upcoming project.

The performer, who recently shared a photo of her natural skin texture, released her latest album titled Planet Her in 2021.

One of Doja Cat’s tweets simply read “no more pop,” prompting her fans to inquire about the plot of her third record.

The Say So singer later confirmed in another tweet that his upcoming album would be “just rap.”

The Grammy winner then expressed that she felt she had outgrown the pop genre.

She wrote in another tweet: “Pop isn’t exciting to me anymore. I don’t want to make it.’

Doja Cat also spoke about her previous ventures in rap, writing that she’s trying to make progress as an artist.

“I also agree with everyone who says the majority of my rap verses are mediocre and hackneyed. I know they are. I wasn’t trying to prove anything, I just enjoy making music but I’m tired of hearing you guys say I can’t so I will,” she wrote.

The singer’s debut album, titled Amala, was released in March 2018.

The performer released Hot Pink in 2019 and the record was met with great success.

The album included the hit single Say So, and the project as a whole reached #9 on the US Billboard 200 chart.

Doja Cat’s third album, Planet Her, debuted in June 2021 and was met with both critical and commercial acclaim.

The performer opened up about her rap skills during an interview with Elle, in which she revealed that she’d always thought of herself as a rapper.

“I was rapping from the start and I couldn’t even sing that well at first — I got a lot better,” she said.

The hitmaker also explained that she’s come to terms with the fact that listeners aren’t fans of her rap style.

“I use my voice as a tool to create these worlds, and it’s okay if people think I can’t rap,” she said.
