Dolly Parton is finally revealing the real reason why she decided to retire from touring.
In October last year, the country icon shocked fans when she announced her retirement from touring, saying, “I don’t think I’ll ever tour again.”
It came as a surprise to many as she had once said she would “rather die on stage” than retire.
But while the 77-year-old country music legend insists she will never give up her work entirely, she told Good Housekeeping that she won’t leave her husband of more than five decades, Carl Dean, alone wants long periods of time.
The hitmaker, who recently opened up about her eclectic sense of style, told the media outlet: “I’m not touring anymore. “I have so many business things going on. And my husband and I are getting older… and I need to be with him somehow.
Parton added that artists need to commit to this [touring]. And I’ve done that my whole life.’
However, the Jolene singer stated that she never thought giving up her music career was a realistic option.

“Maybe I’ll take a month off instead of a week, but no, I don’t plan on ever retiring,” she said.
Parton explained that she would only stop performing if “my husband was sick and really needed me, or if I was sick, those would be the only two reasons I would ever stop.”
The Grammy Award-winning artist added that she hopes “that never happens.”
The hitmaker and her husband met in a Nashville laundromat in 1964 and tied the knot two years later.
The Silver Dagger singer’s wife is known for keeping a low profile, although she has shared several photos of him on her social media in the past.
Parton was most recently on the road for her Pure and Simple tour, which consisted of 65 shows in North America in 2016 and 2017.
Since then, the singer has released three studio albums and her upcoming 49th album, “Rockstar,” is scheduled for release on November 17th.
In an interview with Pollstar last October, the artist revealed that she planned to give up touring, although she expressed that she was still open to the idea of holding one-off concerts on special occasions.
