Dolly Parton unveils the first single from her Rockstar album on stage

Dolly Parton is switching registers to immerse herself in rock music: The 77-year-old diva gave a taste of it by singing her first excerpt at the conclusion of the Academy of Country Music Awards gala on Thursday night.

Country queen Dolly Parton has released her first rock song in style. She performed Wold On Fire live during a televised performance full of pyrotechnic effects.

And it works! Because the country artist has the power and character to play what passes for good old rock.

Her next album, Rockstar, is a response to her induction into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame in 2022. An honor the country singer didn’t think she deserved until she released a proper rock album.

“World On Fire” is one of the 30 songs that will be included on his Rockstar album, due out on November 17th. Long awaited by the singer’s admirers, rock fans and the curious, this album brings together an important lineup of big names in the music industry.

The 40+ guest stars include Lizzo, Paul McCartney, Sheryl Crow, her niece Miley Cyrus, Pink, Sting, Elton John, Kid Rock and Steven Tyler. Two-thirds of the opus will be covers of legendary songs (including “Don’t Let the Sun Go Down on Me”, “Let It Be” and “We Are the Champions”), with the remainder being original compositions.
