Dolores Catania defends RHONJ co-star Teresa Giudice, calling her a ‘good mom’

Just a day after Real Housewives of New Jersey star Teresa Giudice faced criticism for encouraging her 17-year-old daughter Milania to lose weight, her co-star Dolores Catania is defending her.

Milania recently appeared on the Namaste B$tches podcast, where she admitted her 51-year-old mother forced her to lose weight when she was in middle school.

That compulsion led to her losing 50 pounds, which Milania says was a “good thing,” though Giudice still came under fire for pushing her teenage daughter to lose significant weight.

Milania admitted on the podcast that she weighed 150 pounds before the diet and dropped to 110 pounds after the diet.

Catania, 52, who has starred on Real Housewives of New Jersey since season seven in 2017, defended Giudice in an interview with The Sun.

“I remember Milania going through something and gaining weight,” Catania began.

‘You know what? “Sometimes growing up you fall into an unhealthy lifestyle – you’re always eating junk food with your friends,” added Catania.

“I think it’s good for a mother to monitor her child’s weight and be aware of it and alert them before it gets out of control.” Obesity is very unhealthy,” continued Catania.

Milania said on the podcast, “I was a lot fatter in middle school.” I was a pumpkin. One day it hit me and I felt suffocated in my own body.’

As for her mother, Milania said she never directly told her to lose weight, although she did offer some not-so-subtle suggestions.

“My mom would — she would never say anything to me — but she’d be like, ‘Oh, do you want another ice cream?'” she recalls.

She added that she would fire back at her mom, “I don’t care if I’m fat!” I would say, “If I’m fat, I’m fat. What ever. It’s my life.”

However, Milania admitted that despite her mother’s suggestions, she made the decision to lose weight herself.

“It just clicked and I did it,” Milania said, adding that she asked her mom to hire a nutritionist for her.

The nutritionist gave her the “healthiest meals” three times a day and she began exercising twice a day before and after school.

In fact, Milania even asked Teresa to hire a nutritionist who would give her the “healthiest meals” three times a day. In addition, the then eighth grader began to train twice a day: before and after school.

“You have to want to do it yourself.” You can’t force her and I didn’t want her to have a complex or anything and I thought she looked adorable. “She was just a little fatter,” Teresa said.
