Dolphins have held trade talks on WRs Preston Williams and Lynn Bowden Jr., according to the report

Miami Dolphins wide receiver Preston Williams has revealed he would like his role on the team to change and his request could translate into a new team for the 25-year-old. According to Sports Illustrated, the Dolphins have been in talks with other teams about a trade that would include Williams.

The drafted player has been on the team for three years, but is currently dissatisfied with his playing time.

“I just feel like I’m not getting the opportunities that I deserve, just scripted, not on the field,” Williams told the media last week (via Dolphins Wire). “[I want] Ways to show I can beat my man.”

Williams said he had a conversion on the subject during OTAs with new head coach Mike McDaniel.

“The only thing I asked him specifically was, ‘I just want my chance,'” Williams said. “[McDaniel] said, ‘You’ll get your chance.’ I just want him to make him a man of his word, that’s all.”

Williams played in eight games and started in three last season, the fewest games he started in his three-year career. In three seasons, he has 56 receptions for 787 yards and seven touchdowns. Last year he had zero touchdowns.

The Dolphins have made offensive moves this offseason, most notably adding star wide receiver Tyreek Hill. The team isn’t short on wideouts, with Hill, Jaylen Waddle, Trent Sherfield, Cedrick Wilson, Mohamed Sanu and rookie Erik Ezukanma all hoping to play an important role on offense.

With Williams not happy and the team hanging out with other go-to guys, the team looks set to shop Williams to see what value he has that could work in Miami’s favor.

Wide receiver Lynn Bowden Jr. was also part of the trade talks, according to Sports Illustrated.

Bowden began his career with the Raiders, who selected him in the third round of the 2020 NFL Draft. He didn’t spend much time with Raider Nation, however, as he was traded to Miami before his rookie year even started.

Bowden didn’t play last year because he was on injured reserve. He had 28 receptions for 211 yards in 2020.
