A mother turns to social networks to scream from the bottom of her heart and denounce the brutal attack to which her daughter allegedly suffered a few days ago in her marriage, by a man who is now facing serious allegations.
“I didn’t recognize my own daughter when I arrived at the hospital. There has to be justice somewhere,” lamented Juli Choinière, mother of Laury Choinière, in a sad message published on Facebook on Wednesday evening, in connection with the domestic violence to which her daughter is said to have been a victim at the hands of her ex. Spouse, Yan-Philippe Leduc.
In the same publication, the Bromont resident notably attached two photos of her daughter's swollen face, unrecognizable and lying in a hospital bed.
“We always think it just happens to other people or on TV. But when the phone rings at 5:30 a.m. and you see your daughter on FaceTime, your heart stops,” Ms. Choinière wrote in a second release.

Significant injuries
In fact, on December 30, the Longueuil Agglomeration Police Service (SPAL) was called to intervene on Colomb Avenue in Brossard.
“A young woman in her 20s was transported to hospital and suffered serious injuries to her upper body,” confirmed SPAL agent François Boucher. However, we were not afraid for his life.”
According to our information, the victim was actually Laury Choinière. The latter has since thanked her loved ones on social networks.
“This is officially the most difficult time of my entire life, this trauma will remain forever,” she commented on Facebook. At the moment I’m slowly making my way up the coast.”
The suspect, Yan-Philippe Leduc, 27, was arrested at the scene.

The private trainer from Brossard faces several charges, including assault, suffocation, false imprisonment and breach of conditions.
The charges relate to the most recent incident, as well as another violent incident against his victim on December 10th.
A repeat offender?
However, Leduc would not have been his first attacks against a woman.
In February 2022, he was sentenced to three years of probation, community service and two years of supervision for, among other things, a summary charge of threats and bodily harm, including in a domestic context.
At that time, Leduc had already received a one-year suspended sentence for failing to comply with an order in a similar context.
In addition, a crowdfunding campaign was launched to help his victim.
“My girlfriend has been a victim of domestic violence for several months. [Dans la nuit du 30] In December, the worst happened: she was brutally disfigured and almost killed by her partner, who is currently awaiting trial. We hope justice is served because unfortunately this is not his only victim,” wrote Kellyann Dumont, a friend of the victim.
“I want to help my friend […] “To take control of your life and take the time to recover emotionally, mentally and physically without financial stress,” she also wrote.
Following his incarceration, Leduc is due back in court on January 10 to undergo his release hearing.
It is possible that further charges could be brought against him.
