According to the lawsuit, the dispute revolved around the recording of the comedian’s show entitled Dominic Paquet, which took place in January 2010. The recording was made by ComediHa! produced. Inc.

After Dominic Paquet stopped being represented by Sébastien Roy in 2014, he continued to work with Entourage Group. During a conversation with Entourage executives in 2018, the comedian and his company discovered there was an issue with his first show’s royalties.

At the time, Dominic Paquet believed that his former manager and his company, Fou du Roy, had agreed with Entourage to pay them any royalties. Entourage, for its part, believed that the comedian himself received the said royalties directly.

When he noticed during the pandemic that his first show was airing on Price 2 and new royalties were being paid without his knowledge, Dominic Paquet decided to act.

“Evil intention”

In his lawsuit, the comedian is demanding from Sébastien Roy and Fou du Roy the sum of $25,125.72, “unless it is finalized, for the amounts not received by Dominic from Sébastien Roy and Fou du Roy and from ComediHa for the show had received.”

Dominic Paquet also demands from Sébastien Roy and Fou du Roy an additional sum of $25,000, “representing the fee of Me Yves Pépin caused by their multiple errors and in particular by their bad faith”.

The comedian demands “from Sébastien Roy and Fou du Roy the reassignment of all rights for the show”. He also asks the court to order ComediHa! Sébastien Roy and Fou du Roy no longer pay “all royalties due for the show”.

Contacted by Le Journal, Dominic Paquet’s team at Entourage said the comedian would not be making any comments “given the fact that the case is being heard in court.” ComediHa! didn’t want to comment either.
