Don Alfonso He has almost 56 years of experience on television, accustoming audiences to his deep and calm voice. He notes that while he has a lot of knowledge in the field, he still feels like a newbie to acting, a job he’s trying his hand at: “I’ve never done it and I’ve got a lot to learn about it for sure; but I am a pioneer because I am the first Ecuadorian to work in dubbing for North American cinema”.
Speaking to the newspaper EL UNIVERSO, the journalist comments that the character he is dubbing is a warrior: “The film has animated characters and real characters. I’m dubbing an animated character, a well-known warrior, who arrives to ask where his brother is.
It’s an action movie that will please all viewers, especially young people. It’s fantasy, mythological characters, and rare creatures, he says. This proposal came to him through the group Paramount Ecuador: “He contacted me because the company wanted to dub Latin American actors into Spanish; then it occurred to them that I might be a good candidate. My name was suggested; They liked the idea of who I was. So that’s when it came out, and all of a sudden I was already working on it.”
He faces this challenge at the age of 81, but he was encouraged to take it because he is in the field of communication arts. To enter the role, he says he didn’t have a voice test; it is not necessary: ”There are many recordings of me from television and the stations.” However, he had to prove himself when interpreting the character: “I didn’t have a problem either. I got my amateur acting vein out there and the shot turned out very interesting. Everything went perfectly, beneficial.”
On the subject of Dungeons & Dragons: Honor Among ThievesThe news presenter admits that he has never been a fan of video games or fantasy: “Especially because you never have time for such beautiful things, but I find the film’s approach, which is based on a game, very interesting.”

“The voice is a wonderful tool that God has given us because we were born with the natural conditions to develop that kind of communication, which is the fundamental kind: speaking and conversation. So we should all have the opportunity to use this tool because voice is an attribute that works for all of us,” he says.
For those who use it professionally, there is only one word: congratulations! “I was a radio host from a very young age: I was 16 or 17 years old. And then I went to television, but I was always connected to the use of my voice. We communicators are very conscious of how we should use our voice, how we should take care of it and most importantly how to craft messages that are consistent with the same voice,” he says.
His experience in the radio play
“I did a radio play on the well-known Radio Bolívar when Miss blanca salazar. She was what got me into radio drama and there were great actors already established in radio soap operas. I remember a lot about Mrs. Easter bowl, that she was Spanish; He was always there and he came from his country with prestige. There were actors like Lucho Patino, Lucho Chavez. It didn’t take him much work to adapt from cinema content to this type of radio content. “I had a certain inclination that was already marked by that; I worked on many soap operas from that period that were filmed on Radio Bolívar. That helped me a lot when I went into television and had the opportunity to do a dramatic production,” he admits.
He always wanted to be a film actor.
