Don Johnson makes a rare comment about his eldest daughter, Dakota Johnson

Miami Vice alum Don Johnson made a rare comment about his relationship with his eldest daughter Dakota Johnson while attending the Manhattan premiere of his new film Book Club: The Next Chapter on Monday.

“We don’t get involved in each other’s worlds, we’re father and daughter,” the 73-year-old Emmy nominee told People.

“She’s a pro, I’m a pro.”

As for his 33-year-old daughter’s advice, Don joked, “I don’t know what her advice would be at this point, but probably, ‘Go away Dad! “

Dakota is Johnson’s only child from his two marriages (1976 and 1989-1996) to Oscar-nominated Melanie Griffith, whom he scandalously dated when he was 23 and she was 15.

In 2021, the A Little White Lie actor said he would have a “conversation” with Coldplay frontman Chris Martin if he ever proposed to his famous daughter.

“If she’s happy, I’ll be happy and he’s a lovely guy,” Don told Fox 5’s Good Day New York.

“And if she does decide to get married, I would imagine there would be grandchildren not too far after that. I’d be pretty excited about that part.’

The 46-year-old Englishman is already a father to two children – daughter Apple, 18; and son Moses, 17 – from his decades-long marriage to Oscar winner Gwyneth Paltrow, from whom he deliberately separated in 2016.

Johnson’s eldest child is his 40-year-old son Jesse Johnson, from his five-year romance with Andy Warhol’s muse Patti D’Arbanville, which ended in 1986.

The Golden Globe winner also has three children – son Jasper Breckenridge, who turns 21 next month; son Deacon James, 17; and daughter Atherton Grace, 23 – from his 24-year marriage to former Montessori kindergarten teacher Kelley Phleger.
