From the White House to the writers’ room.
Donald Glover has confirmed that he has hired Malia Obama to write for his upcoming Amazon series, tentatively titled Hive.
Glover, 38, confirmed the news in an interview with Vanity Fair on Friday, insisting the former first daughter, 23, was not a beneficiary of nepotism.
“She’s just an incredibly talented person,” Glover cooed of Malia. “She’s really focused and she works really hard.”
While most struggling screenwriters struggle for years to get a chance in Hollywood, it’s been a seemingly quick ride for Malia, who just graduated from Harvard last year.
The prodigy previously interned on Lena Dunham’s HBO series Girls in 2015 and The Weinstein Company in 2017 before boss Harvey Weinstein was brought down on rape and other charges.

Glover’s brother Stephen, 31, is also working on the upcoming Amazon series.
“I feel like she’s just someone who’s going to have some really good things coming soon,” Stephen similarly gushed about Malia’s abilities when speaking to Vanity Fair.
“Your writing style is great,” he gushed. “Donald always says perspective is important, and people with different perspectives are important for a writer’s room. And for sure, she definitely has a unique perspective on everything.”
Details about the series were not announced. However, Insider reported last month that the show could revolve around a “Beyoncé-like character.”

Malia’s new appearance isn’t the Obama family’s first foray into the TV business.
In 2018, Barack and Michelle Obama signed a deal with Netflix that is believed to be worth a whopping $50 million.
Malia moved to Los Angeles late last year to get into the entertainment business.
Her younger sister, Sasha, is also said to live in La La Land and is reportedly joining USC after studying at the University of Michigan for two years.
