Donald Glover will return to the role of Lando Calrissian in a film rather than a series.
Last July we learned that Disney and Lucasfilm had begun developing a series around the character from the Star Wars universe, played in his young version by Donald Glover in Solo: A Star Wars Story in 2018. In addition, the announced Studios announced that they had entrusted the production to Stephen Glover, the actor’s brother.
And the very filmmaker and screenwriter who already worked with his brother on the series “Atlanta” revealed in a passage in the podcast “Pablo Torre Finds Out” that this series is ultimately a film.
“It won’t be a series… Right now the idea is to make a film. “Everything is a bit confusing with the strike,” the filmmaker explained, while Lucasfilm immediately confirmed the news.
When first mentioned in 2020, the project was a miniseries directed by Justin Simien (“The Haunted Mansion,” “Dear White People”). And it seems that the latter was only informed of his ouster in the summer by the announcement of the Glover brothers’ involvement.
“I discovered it the same way you did,” he wrote on Instagram. “Donald is a national treasure. I’m glad he and Stephen were able to take the character forward. I can’t wait…to see. Back to basics for all black people. » A frankly noble reaction to a gesture that was not noble at all!
