Donald Trump was spotted Saturday night ahead of the highly anticipated clash between Leon Edwards and Colby Covington at UFC 296 at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas.

The former US president is taking part in his second UFC event in just over a month after traveling to Madison Square Garden in November to watch Alex Pereira and Tom Aspinall score big victories over Jiri Prochazka and Sergei Pavlovich win.

And this weekend, Trump is in Sin City to watch one of his biggest fans fight for the welterweight title.

American star Covington has inextricably linked his personal brand to that of the 77-year-old and even planned to be ejected by him at T-Mobile Arena on Saturday.

Should he prevail against Britain's Edwards and become welterweight champion, “Chaos” has also confirmed that Trump will put the belt around his waist in the Octagon.

However, UFC President Dana White had to block the proposed move so Trump could usher it out into the arena.

Covington, dressed in a white suit with Trump's face on the back and a signature from the former president, said: “Dana wouldn't let me go out with Trump, logistically it's too difficult.”

“He said there were 100 secret services with him and just too much chaos. 'He'll sit at the cage and I'll give him a hug before I go into the octagon.'

Covington, who believes he was unfairly denied the belt by losing twice to Kamaru Usman, compared his career to that of Trump after the 77-year-old insisted he was stripped of the title at the last election .

He continued: “It's the same path as Trump.” We were cheated out of titles. We can be delayed but not rejected. The best in the world will be determined on Saturday. Donald Trump will put the belt on me if I win.

“I’m going to make the welterweight division great again. If Trump doesn’t get re-elected, this country is finished.”
