The former US president and candidate for the November presidential election launched a pair of shoes on Saturday, November 17th for 370 euros. The day before he had been sentenced to a heavy fine for financial fraud.
Pay your penalties by shooting your own basketball. This is apparently Donald Trump's latest crazy idea. The former President of the United States, candidate for re-election in November 2024, presented this Saturday, February 17, evening the first official Trump shoes, the “Never Surrender High-Tops”. Price of the tall, gold pair with the giant American flag on the back? $399. Or 370 euros.
The former president also sells two versions of sneakers with “T” and “45” (for “Trump” and “45th President”) written on the sides. The price is $199, according to the website gettrumpsneakers.com. Cologne and perfume are also available, priced at $99 per bottle, with Donald Trump's head serving as the cap.
“I've wanted to do this for a long time,” he said while unveiling the sneakers at Sneaker Con in Philadelphia, an event that bills itself as “the largest shoe trade show on planet Earth,” reports the Guardian . A presentation that took place in front of an audience half convinced, half disgusted by the communication operation, the boos that responded to the applause and vice versa.
Huge fine
The timing of the presentation of this luxury shoe raises questions. The day before, Friday, Donald Trump was sentenced to a hefty fine of $354 million (€328.4 million). Like two of his sons, he was accused of financial and accounting fraud that spanned years. If this verdict is confirmed in the coming months, following promised appeals by Trump and his lawyers, it could lead to the dismantling of the deposed president. This empire, with a name that makes him proud and his persona as an unstoppable winner, suddenly demonizes a certain Trump aura full of bluff, boasting and lies that are bigger than him.
In Philadelphia, the 45th President of the United States attacked Arthur Engoron, the judge who had sentenced him the day before. As usual, Donald Trump lapsed into conspiratorial statements rather than questioning himself: for him, the judge's decision was just an “election interference strategy,” a left-wing conspiracy aimed at preventing him from becoming the white man to take back the house.
Statements that only reinforce what Arthur Engoron said when he delivered his verdict on Trump and his sons: “Their complete lack of remorse and remorse borders on pathology.”
