At the time, Donald Trump said he received an “obscene” amount of money to set up a fight between Evander Holyfield and former UFC champion Vitor Belfort.
He wasn’t kidding.
A revised personal financial disclosure from former President Trump revealed that his most lucrative speaking engagement of his post-presidency earned him $2.5 million, which was provided to him by Triller Legends II LLC in September 2021.
Triller Fight Club promoted the crossover boxing match between Holyfield and Belfort, which Belfort won by TKO in the first round on September 11, 2021 at the Seminole Hard Rock in Hollywood, Florida. Trump provided color commentary throughout the four-fight main card.
Trump’s filing, released Thursday, reveals details of the roughly $1 billion he’s made since leaving office, largely through speaking and appearances and foreign deals. It also gives a glimpse of how much money Triller poured into his boxing promotion, which ended about a year later in September 2022.
Widely regarded as the Republican Party’s favorite to run for president again in 2024, Trump has always had an affinity for martial arts. He is a longtime friend of UFC President Dana White, who endorsed Trump in his speeches as President in 2016 and 2020 at the Republican National Convention.
During his tenure as president and since his defeat in the 2020 election, Trump has attended multiple live UFC events. Most recently, he was caged alongside White at UFC 290 at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas last Saturday.
