Donald Trump says Robert Saleh is ‘bigger than Vice Lombardi’ after New York’s win over Cleveland

Donald Trump stunned his audience at a rally Friday night in Wilmington, North Carolina, leaving in a bizarre fashion to offer his thoughts on the New York Jets’ final NFL game.

The 45th President took the stage for a Save America rally ahead of the midterm elections, discussing immigration, crime, the 2020 election — and, oddly, the New York Jets’ win over the Cleveland Browns last Sunday.

“The Jets game last week, … so there’s about a minute and 37 seconds left, they’re down 13 points and they’ve had a tough game and they don’t even have the ball,” Trump began, watching viewers blankly at the Relevance of New York’s win in week 2 await.

“I think the chance they would win was one hundredth of one percent and nobody would take the bet.

“They got some sort of fumble, they threw a long pass, it was caught, they got to a seven… and then they got a kick to the outside, that took about a minute and a half.

“They got … they got an onside kick and they got a touchdown and they won the game because the other field goal kicker missed a field goal somewhere during the game and they got the 14 points get what they needed.

“They needed 14 points, they got 14 points like in a minute and 12 seconds, it was the craziest thing.”

What’s perhaps even more extraordinary than the comeback itself is that Trump actually spoke to head coach Robert Saleh and general manager Joe Douglas after Gang Green’s first win of the 2022 NFL season.

As always, the 45th President had a bold claim, but this time it was in the sporting arena.

“I called the coach [Robert Saleh] because I think the coach is a great guy, the general manager too… I said, “Coach, you’re bigger than Vince Lombardi, because Vince Lombardi never did it, he could never go through a game like that, because that was the craziest thing I’ve ever seen.” The game was over, it was over.’

Trump’s reference to the Jets may not make sense on the surface, but his longtime friend and franchisee, Woody Johnson, was in attendance.

New York was 30-17 behind the Browns with less than 90 seconds remaining before a touchdown on AJ Brown put them on possession.

The Jets recovered the following onside kick before rookie Garrett Wilson caught a touchdown with 22 seconds on the clock.

New York won 31-30, sending half of Trump’s native New York into ecstasy.

Trump is expected to run for the presidency before 2024, he has not confirmed this but has strongly indicated he will.

The former president said “the time is coming” when Fox News asked last month when Republicans could expect a formal announcement.

“I think people will be very happy, our country has never been in a situation like this, we’ve lost everything,” he said at the Conservative Political Action Conference.

Trump could be allowed to return to Facebook in time for the 2024 election season,” Meta’s President of Global Affairs Nick Clegg revealed Thursday.

‘He could be. We’ve been very open that this temporary suspension will last for a two-year period, albeit “until early January next year,” Clegg said in an interview Thursday in Washington, DC with Steve Clemons, the editor of Semafor at Large.

If repealed, Trump would be allowed back on the social media site on January 7, 2023.

Trump, who has amassed 35 million followers on Facebook, was banned from the platform in 2021 after making comments allegedly inciting the Jan. 6 Capitol riots.

At the time, the Silicon Valley giant said Trump would only be allowed to re-enter the site when “the risk to public safety has decreased.”

He was also tossed from Instagram and Twitter in January in response to the storming of the Capitol.
